3. I love getting email and real mail too!

4. I try to keep all the dishes always done and all the laundry done all the time.

5 Things You Want Your Kids To Know

Shawna tagged me for this meme from Karen at Surviving Motherhood, who was tagged by the original creator of the meme, Claire at One Passion...One Devotion. Those participating are supposed to share the five things they want their kids to know before they “grow up” and then leave a link to their meme in the comment section of Claire’s original post.

Here are my five.

1. God loves you.

2. God's word holds the answer to your problems.

3. Who you are inside is so much more important than what you wear or have on the outside.

4. You are a blessing in my life.

5. Always pray and listen to God before making a big decision.

There are so many other things that hopefully my kids will know before they grow up.

I'll tag Nancy, Jenny, Jenna, Julie, and Amanda.

bloggy business ~ tags!

Loving Annie has tagged me for this meme.

And the first thing you have to do is post the rules of it before you do anything else... So, here they are:

1. You have to post these rules before you give the facts.

2. You must list one fact that is somehow relevant to your life for each letter of your middle name. If you don’t have a middle name, use the middle name you would have liked to have had.

3. At the end of your blog post, you need to choose one person for each letter of your middle name to tag. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

A ~ appreciative! I am so appreciative of many things from God's love to good friends. I always reflect on how blessed I am and try to look for the blessings in life when things appear bleak. I remember that I walk by faith, not by sight; which means I live on the promises of God.

N ~ nice? this is hard (and I still have another N - yikes!) ... I always try to be nice, that's for sure. Try is the operative word.

N ~ naughty? That's the word Amanda came up with when I asked for an N word to describe me! I said, "I'm not naughty." In true three year old fashion! But, I suppose I am a little naughty and like swimming upstream sometimes.

Thanks for the tag Annie. That got my brain working!

The three people I tag for this meme are Nancy, Momma, and Carrie!

Now a tag from Jodi!

It’s very simple. When this is passed on to you, copy the whole thing, skim the list and put a * star beside those that you like. (Check out especially the * starred ones.)

Add the next number (1. 2. 3. 4. 5., etc.) and write your own blogging tip for other bloggers. Try to make your tip general.

After that, tag 10 other people. Link love some friends!

Just think- if 10 people start this, the 10 people pass it onto another 10 people, you have 100 links already!

a tag ~ a meme!

Karen has tagged me for a fun meme! Here we go!

Accent
- I don't think I have one. I took a voice and articulation class in college and really tried to erase some of my okie slang, it creeps back from time to time but I don't think I have any type of accent.

I don't drink - milk, blech! I literally strain my cereal to eat it too. Just can't stand thinking about the origin etc. blech again.

Chore I hate - mopping. Enough said.

Pets - Too many. Well, there's Lady (white dog) and Rosa (black dog) and a bunch of bunnies and some outside cats who peek in the french doors in the kitchen every morning begging me for food or waiting for my leftover milk from my cereal... and Matt has goats! I don't claim them.

Essential Electronics - My laptop, digital camera & cellphone.

Perfume - Laugh by Brighton is my favorite perfume! I also like Sung by Alfred Sung and Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker.

Gold or silver - Silver. My wedding band is gold and is an heirloom, it was Matt's great grandmother's. She died in the 1919 flu epidemic. It is a wide gold band with a solitare and inside it has her initials along with her husbands. We added ours when we married. I requested a white gold anniversary band with a diamond for each child for my 15th anniversary, but we unexpectedly ended up spending that one with Iz in the hospital right after her accident so maybe for my 20th ???

Insomnia - NEVER. My head hits the pillow and I am instantly sleeping. It's all I can do to stay awake while we pray in bed. Sometimes when Matt squeezes my hand for my turn I have drifted off and quickly just start praying (ssh, don't tell him).

Job Title - Mom, chef, secretary, gardener, chauffeur, nurse.

Most Admired Trait - I love people who are real. Just who they are and that's that. Make sense?

Kids - four!

Phobia - I wouldn't claim it as a 'phobia,' but I really despise germs and all things nasty. Really!

Religion - Well, Christian and believer.

Siblings - Two brothers.

Time I wake up - between five and six thirty.

Unusual talent/skill - I can cut, french braid, and color hair, that's only unusual because I am self taught...

Vegetable I refuse to eat - brussel sprouts & beets

Worst habit - drinking coke when I know I shouldn't.

X-rays - My arm in junior high when I fell on it trying to do a handspring, teeth...

My favorite meal - well either Mom's chicken schnitzel or glazed ham... or the pasta John (Matt's mom's husband) makes for my birthday that has penne and artichokes, sun dried tomatoes, pine nuts, and lots of good stuff... I love food, can you tell?

I tag you!!!

fridays feast ... schmoozer... etc.

Appetizer

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, how polite are you?

Probably a 7 or 8. I think sometimes because I am in a hurry I forget to always be polite, but I do try.

Soup
What was the last thing that made you laugh out loud?

My husband walking in from work singing, "Good morning Baltimore!" I should have never let him see Hairspray with us :o).

Salad
Who is your favorite cartoon character?

Probably Winnie the Pooh. He is just adorable. Oh bother.

Main Course

Tell about the funniest teacher you ever had.

Funniest as in haha would probably be Mrs. Calhoun who was my seventh grade english teacher. She had a short song for every instruction she taught. She was one of those teachers you think, "Is she for real?" and then you find out... yes, she is.

Dessert
Complete this sentence: I strongly believe that Izzy will walk.

My good friend Gail thought I deserved the schmoozer award. She's just the greatest gal in the words of a true schmoozer...

A schmooze award…….Schmoozing as defined by Dictionary.com is the ability to converse casually…. And I think with blogging it’s about making friends, being a friend, commenting and answering comments and having a welcoming blog. Thanks girls, y’all have all made me feel welcome.

I would definitely give this right back to Gail. She is a great bloggy friend who is quick to comment on my posts, and reply to my comments!

Her sister Stacy is quite the schmoozer as well!

Here's a few more of the best schmoozers I know...
K.C.
Kat
Nancy
Lauren
Mandalyn
Jodi
& Kim!

Thanks Gail!

Karolee is hosting the Proverbs challenge!
I love when bloggers join together to study God's word. All you have to do is read one chapter in Proverbs each day, by the end of August you will have read the whole book.

For those who have asked, Izzy's nose is fine now. I think it was just dry but it happened several times but she is nosebleed free now!

The jury is still out on the hair issue. I'm taking Bailey to get his locks trimmed next week. He has been growing out his hair all summer and thinks it is pretty cool. I am hoping a little trim will go a long way. Although I think he is cute with any hair style!

I'm so proud of the kids! Amanda has been so sweet and helpful, not even mentioning the church issue once. Bailey went out and did yard work without asking him to this afternoon. He just noticed that the yard needed to be mowed. It helps I'm sure that he is rewarded for his efforts, but still... I didn't even mention it!

I'm getting ready for our visitors tomorrow. I am making Pioneer woman's lasagna for dinner, but want to make something really good for breakfast and I did my favorite breakfast casserole the last two times I've seen them... so any ideas for something different but easy would be good. I don't want to stand in the kitchen cooking a big breakfast when we will be heading out for lunch pretty early. I may just zip over to Panera and get a bagel pack tomorrow. Good idea?

I went to bed earlier, started chapter one or lesson one of my new Beth Moore study "Believing God." Jenny suggested it was a good one and I needed something new to read. I mentioned it to Matt and he happened to be near a Mardels so he picked up a copy of the study guide and book for me. I usually just like the study books because the are so interactive, but I'm noticing this one has things left out that must be on the dvd or teacher's guide. I may have to read the book too... we'll see. I do love it so far! Thank for suggesting it Jenny. I am up now because Miss Isabelle will not go back to sleep. She was asleep and woke up so we are on the couch me blogging and her awake! I sure hope she gets sleepy soon because it is almost midnight (11:55) and I'm sleepy! So, goodnight (I hope)!

**updated**
It's 12:10 a.m. and guess who is snoring!!! So goodnight for real this time! YAY.

written on bunnies?

Jennifer offered this challenge to Susan... My challenge to my blog friends is this: write 8 of your blog friends names in a unique way and post them. Then come back over and let me know. You must write the blogger's name that tagged you, then add 7 others. Be creative and if possible use the natural wonders of the world!

Susan wrote my name on a stone and offered the same challenge to me!

So per the instructions, my first picture is for Susan.
She is such a sweetie and a mentor for me, truly.
She also lives in the same state as me!

Next is my bloggy buddy Kat!
Such a cute bunny huh?
I just love visiting Kat, she's a really special person!
Here comes Carrie!
Carrie is a bloggy sweetheart and I
expect if she accepts this challenge we'll see
names on her pretty veggies she's growing :o)

Oh, what about Jenna?
Jenna was one of my first blogging buddies and I just love her!
She has a pretty new blog design now, she's pretty fancy!

Can't forget the birthday girl!
Jenny and I have had some great phone conversations.
I just love Jenny!

Sweet Judi!
Judi hasn't been posting for a couple of days so maybe this
will inspire her to post, I love to visit her!

My IRL & bloggy buddy Julie.
I could make some kind of silly joke about rabbits etc. since she has
seven kids, but I won't!
Julie knows I love her!

Sheryl is my sweet friend too!
I always enjoy visiting her blog and her uplifting posts.
Her & her hubbie are so sweet together!

Following behind (because that was 8) is Oh Amanda!
She's one creative gal and even a top mama!
We sure see eye to eye on God stuff, that's huge to me.
I just can't wait to see what you girls come up with...

small print...
I must thank Amanda for her bunny assistance. She has scratches to prove she helped out (don't worry, I gave her money for the movie to make up for it all)
No animals were harmed while shooting these photos, there was one close call with ugly rosa and Susan bunny, but she was rescued just in time!

creative & thoughtful blogger awards

(check out the time... crazy huh? Matt got called a little bit ago and I am awake watching him work on the computer so of course I am blogging :o)... who knows if I'll make sense at this hour but I'll do my best)

My sweet friend, Sheryl, tagged me for the five questions meme.

1) What one place would you love to go to if money was no object?
If money were no object, I would want to go everywhere! I would go meet all my bloggy friends... I would go to NYC and watch them tape the today show :o)... I would go to Greece, South Africa, Ireland, Italy, Israel... everywhere!

2) What movie/show do you watch when you want a good laugh?
I would say the try outs for american idol, but although some are really funny I usually just feel sorry for the people who think they are good and then are shot down...

3) If you won a free scholarship, what would your major be?
I would love to be a Christian family counselor...

4) What is your favorite fictional book?
Probably the Mark of the Lion series, I would love to re-read this. I was on the edge of my seat when Hadassah was fed to the lions. It took a little to get into the first book, but after that I couldn't put them down! I also loved Redeeming Love, amazing book!

5) If your honey offered you the date of your dreams, what would you choose?
A date of my dreams... well, did I ever tell you about my 10th anniversary? That was the date I tried to arrange and it was a flop! I'll save it for ttt!
Right now a date of my dreams would be to return to the place of our rehearsal dinner (for sentimental reasons) and then some other activity... ended by a really good long talk (we have lots of those btw) and then home to a quiet house and I'll leave it there.

Thanks K.C. and Kim for these awards... Now I am going to pass them on.

I found the origin of these awards, it is writersreviews.com.
The following was the purpose of each award...

The Thoughtful Blogger Award

For those who answer blog comments, emails, and make their visitors feel at home on their blogs. For the people who take others feelings into consideration before speaking out and who are kind and courteous. Also for all of those bloggers who spend so much of their time helping others bloggers design, improve, and fix their sites. This award is for those generous bloggers who think of others.

Here's my list of thoughtful bloggers:

Barb. Barb is so thoughtful to always visit and to reply to comments. She is a thoughtful blogger who really thinks about her readers when she is writing. She also does a lot of blogger community work and I really enjoy visiting her place for her thoughtfulness!

Carrie. Carrie is such a thoughtful blogger! You can always tell Carrie's comments because they have lots of astericks and smiles. I just love Carrie and how sweet & thoughtful she is. She was blogging right before baby Levi came into the world and very shortly after.

Kat. If you haven't met Kat you are missing out on one thoughtful lady! She is so thoughtful to always offer an encouraging word, always! I enjoy her blog so much.

Susan. Susan is a wonderful Christian woman and I really enjoy visiting her blog. She is so thoughtful in her comments and her posts. I'm glad I found Susan!

Judi. Judi is a bloggy sweetheart. She is just so thoughtful to encourage with not only comments but emails too. She is always thinking about her bloggy friends and offering to help them with their blogs.

Gail. Gail is a thoughtful blogger! She always leaves a comment when stopping by and even replies to most comments left for her! She's so sweet!

The Creative Blogger Award

For those who bring unique and creative elements to their blogs. For those who incorporate art, music, creative writing, photo's, and other beautiful visual effects into their website. For those who put a unique spin on things and come up with new ideas. This award is for the artsy, the funky, the inventor, and even the rebel. This award is for those creative individuals who stand out from the crowd.

Here's my list of creative bloggers:

OhAmanda. Amanda's posts are never boring. She is very creative and quick to show off a new fun thing (like igoogle)... her posts are usually full of pictures and fun stuff. Very artsy place to drop by.

Marcia. Marcia has lots of blogs and even a professional website full of creative ways to organize your life. She always has pictures of food she has made or organizing tips. She is very creative!

Sandra. Sandra hosts slow cooker thursday. She is very creative, always changing her blog around, it's so cute!

Linda. Linda keeps it moving. This girl is a posting wiz. She shows so many things from all over the place daily that it is always a creative spin over at her place!

Sheryl. I found Sheryl when I first began doing the mpm. Her blog jumped out at me because it was so cute. I told her every week! I'm sure she probably got tired of seeing that comment, but I couldn't help myself. She continues to be very creative and her blog is still cute. She has created faith lift fridays which is a creative way to build each other's faith.

Jenny. Jenny is a creative blogger. She puts a lot of thought into her blog. She holds the coach theme throughout her blog. If you notice her post titles and labels you will quickly see that she is one creative gal!

I could probably come up with 20 more at least in each category, but I'll stop there.
Go spread the bloggy award love and be sure to post the award on your blog.

a tag ~ 5 questions

Oh Amanda has tagged me for the 5 questions meme! I looked at the friday's feast questions this morning and decided to go ahead and do the tag rather than the feast questions... While I'm talking about Amanda, she also talks about igoogle on her blog. I worked on mine... you can add all kinds of things like daily scripture, dictionary, ebible, todo list, clock... and it has the google search bar at the top. You can also create a igadget.

I'm so sleepy this morning (If Matt is reading this he is saying, you are sleepy... I'm agreeing with you... thanks in advance Matt :o). He got two call outs during the night, one at midnight and one at three am. He was able to remotely handle the problems via the computer thank goodness but it was still a disruptive night's sleep.

We got our dates for Disneyworld... We leave Oct. 3, have a layover in st. louis, and then come home the 9th, with a layover in houston. I'm excited! It's really only about two months away.

Okay, here are my answers to Oh Amanda's questions:

1. What’s your favorite piece of furniture in your house & why?
This is easy! My bed. I love to sleep first of all, and my bed is a king sized big comfy bed. I had a tall four poster queen bed and we decided we needed a bigger bed... so I got the bed frame at ikea. It is pretty contemporary. But, I got the puffiest, prettiest, most cottagy bedding that makes it like a cloud. I love it.

2. Why does X stand for a kiss?
Okay Amanda... here in Oklahoma I think the X is the hug? XO is hugs & kisses... I have no idea who thought of this!

3. What’s your guilty pleasure website? You know, the one you might be embarrassed to tell us you visit every day!
I can't think of any! I used to check in about once a week on the show I mentioned in my other post spoilers... but not anymore. I've been known to play a few rounds of solitare or goldminer... or neopets for the kids if I am just sitting and getting iz to sleep or something... I wish I had something more interesting to embarrass myself with :o)

4. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to do hair ... I always played with everyone's hair and had lines of girls ready for their braids or whatever at camp. I still play hair, but now don't think that's all I want to do :o)

5. What did you do for your 16th birthday?
I had a party, at my house. I am amazed at these parties they have on MTV's sweet 16! What's up with that? I had a nice (special) party for Amanda, but nothing like those parties! Mine was (if I remember right) a make your own pizza bar, with the youth group from church and games outside like volleyball etc. Amanda is about to celebrate her 17th birthday! She has planned a really fun party... I'll tell ya'll about it later including pics of the invitations we made using hair spray bottles!

Fun questions! I've written five already or I would do it... I would probably do it again if I didn't just hear Izzy (awake now) and ready for her breakfast! Happy Friday!

A meme/tag from Gail!

1. Do you eat breakfast every day and if so, what do you usually have?
Pretty much every day... unless we have an early appointment and I don't have time. I usually have cheerios w/milk & sugar. (and a coke)... (or coffee)... and on a good/bad day some cinnamon toast made on chewy french bread. yum. None of that this week though!

2. What 5 places do you like to visit in the United States?
mississippi - to see my buddies
niagara falls - after the pictures amanda brought home I can't wait to see it firsthand.
NYC, NY - I would love to live there even!
florida - to see another friend
michigan - yet another friend

3. What place/s overseas would you like to travel to?
south africa!
greece!
new zealand!

4. Do you have a Bible verse that’s meaningful to you and why?
yes!!! so many.
One is John 14:12-14. I was very distraught at a point in time when Izzy was first in the hospital... we were given a prognosis that I didn't know how to handle at that time... I found myself in the chapel of the hospital, opened the bible and my eyes fell directly to this verse... it gave me new hope and planted the seed of faith that has grown and grown...

5. Who are a few of your favorite singers or songs?
I have a few on my sidebar on the playlist... I love eva cassidy. The song 'songbird' is so beautiful. I also love beth nielson chapman... I love nicole nordeman too! There are too many to name.

Great questions Gail! I enjoyed them. Thank you.

Now my five

1. What brings tears to your eyes, just about everytime?
2. What does your favorite outfit look like, the one that you feel great in?
3. What color are you looking at a lot these days?
4. Do you let your kids/hubbie drink after you, would you ever share a toothbrush with hubbie?
5. You're having dinner at your best friend's house, you find a hair in your food... what do you do?

I tag Marcia Karen Julie Melody & judi!

a tag ~ five things I dig about JESUS!

Karen and Irene tagged me for this meme...

John started a meme called Five Things I Dig About Jesus.

Here’s how it works:
Those tagged will share five things they dig about Jesus.
Those tagged will tag five people.
Those tagged will leave a link to their meme in the comment section of this post so everyone can keep track of what’s been posted.

You can go to Five Things I Dig About Jesus to see what other people have said.

Here are Five Things I Dig About Jesus:

  1. Through Christ I have salvation! Romans 10:8-9 "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." THE WORD SAVED IN THE GREEK IS “SOZO” WHICH MEANS SAVED, HEALED, HEALTH, MADE WHOLE, DELIVERED, PRESERVED
  2. Through Christ I have healing! Matthew 8:17 "He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses."
  3. Through Christ all my needs will be met! Phil. 4:19 "And it is he who will supply all your needs from his riches in glory because of what Christ Jesus has done for us."
  4. Through Christ I am a new person! II Cor 5:17-18 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation"
  5. Through Christ I have an awesome inheritance! Rom 8:16 "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God"
There are many many more things I dig about Jesus, but here are five.
I tag Jenna, Julie, Sheryl, Jenileigh, Judi and Lauren... and you if you want to do this, but let me know if you do so I can come read yours too!
Thanks Karen, I enjoyed this tag!
