prayer & fasting

The national week of prayer and fasting is this week, Jan 6-12. There is a specific list of things to pray for during the week, but we are also using this time to be still and listen to God for instruction in regards to Isabelle.

There was a guest speaker/musician at church tonight. She was from Louisiana. She sang in a very folksy way, and I enjoyed it a lot. I also enjoyed the truths she shared and the many verses we read. It was a very uplifting service.

While we aren't doing a fast/pray at our church, our topic for the sermon today was "Listen to the voice of God". I will be fasting/praying on my own so I can hear His voice.

Blessings to you!

Hi Annie

THought I'd better pop in before you think I've fallen off the earth :)

I am only reading through Google Reader these days because your blog takes forever to load (and Laura's) and I'm on strict blog time this year LOL ;)

I hope God speaks loud and clear to you two ;)

Have a fun week

I have never heard of National Week of Prayer before....I've participated in the National Day of Prayer in May several times, and we do it as a family, but this is cool to have a whole week!

I have some disciplines that I'm working on developing this year....one of which is spending 15 minutes every single day in concentrated prayer! I talk to God all day every day, in little snippets throughout the day, but I don't have a concentrated daily prayer time, and I feel the Lord leading me to that.....what a great week to get started on that! :)

Blessings,

We're fasting this week for something specific and I didn't even realize it's the National Week...cool. I'm participating and didn't even know it. :)

Cool! I didn't know it was this week.

At our church in b'ham we did 21 Days of Prayer & Fasting for the first 21 days of January. (Can I just say it was terrible and I rejoiced when I found out Lydia would be born in the middle of it so I didn't have to participate?!) lol!

We use the first Sunday of each month as a time to fast. It is amazing how close to the Spirit one can get when fasting.

I didn't know about this but I like today's topic. Situations that seem impossible. Ha. God loves impossible, doesn't He? But it really stretches me out!
