firecrackers, phones & pics...

How was your 4th of July yesterday? Did you see a lot of fireworks? We bought a family pack for the kids to have as usual, but turns out our new neighbors were getting married last night. They chose the fourth of July... I haven't actually met them.... I've encountered the children many times now as my home is the kid magnet. I thought about walking down to meet them but haven't gotten that far yet. Anyway, they let the neighborhood kids come for the after party. Bailey & Emelia walked down when we got home from my brother's house/cookout. They said that they had $120,000 worth of fireworks for their wedding. I tried for 20 minutes to explain that no one would buy that many fireworks for goodness sakes, and that maybe there were a lot but not that much. Emelia didn't budge, that girl is as stubborn as her mother. The other interesting fact about the wedding was apparently the bride dressed as lady liberty and the groom was uncle sam... why didn't I think of that? The possibilities of costumes are now just endless and my boring old white dress seems so yesterday. I guess in my limited mind I just didn't realize that weddings had gone into the themed direction... I am going to have to get out more apparently. I hope that this family has much happiness and a great life together.

The point is, we had a show right from our front yard that would rival a real fireworks display. It was really hard to look at the things bailey was lighting while there were so many beautiful fireworks right behind him. It was fun, I think Izzy enjoyed it too... but, she fell asleep before we finished in my lap. Lots of rain + heat = mosquitoes... I really hate mosquitoes. We had a fun time at Mike's house. The food was good, including my spinach dip (double batch Elizabeth!). Mike grilled the usual including corn on the cob that was delish. I forgot the camera, but took a few prize winning photos with my phone while we were at the bbq...

Me kissing Iz, the usual...

Izzy looking hot but happy...

Bailey riding Mike's 4 wheeler (that thing scares me!)
I told you they were award winning!

Another good/fun thing that happened yesterday was that while I was gone to the store for an item I forgot for my spinach dip someone tried to call me. I checked the message and guess who it was???? Yep, Jenna. I was so surprised. I called her back and really enjoyed our visit. It was like I've known her for ages. She doesn't sound southern like Judi, I think she sounds about like me... I could have probably talked to her for hours (easily). I had Izzy and spinach dip to make, and she had ice cream and a lit grill. But, we did talk for a while and it was the highlight of my fourth of July 2007. Thanks Jenna!

Tuesday night my old buddy Jackie Gore tried to call me and I need to call her back. I met her at the hospital when Iz was in the PICU. Her son had been a near drowning the year before. He was in the same room as Iz and they were in the same parent motel room as us. She was a faith talking catholic and I loved her instantly. She said things I had never heard before but I now know she was God sent. She has continued to speak faith concerning Izzy and is my friend. Her son, Clayton, btw is completely healed. Praise God.

Well, Izzy's up now... I'll be back later to post the diet devo for today. Are ya'll still reading them?

Wow! Wow! Wow! That's all I can say about your friend Jackie! God did send her to you! And, I could have told you Jenna doesn't talk Southern!! ;)
I'm still reading. I just started the actual book yesterday along with a journal specifically for the freedom from food bondage. But I catch a glimpse of what's coming on your blog. Keep going! You never know who's reading them, but not commenting! :)
You are precious!

Mmmm. Spinach dip...and grilled corn!

Sounds like you guys had a good time.

We sprayed down with bug spray and I don't think we were bothered too much.

I sent Michael to the fireworks stand with Dad and Chance (so he could help offset the cost of what they were already buying)...and he came back with a HUGE one....ONE...that cost almost as much as Chance's whole stash. We saved it for last, but Dad and Chance lit it from the same spot they had all the others. Ummm...yeah...okay. It was a bit too close.

I was looking way up and a spark fell into my eye, so in reflex I grabbed my eye and turned my head to the ground...then, a spark hit me on the back of my neck...so, I went running into the house. Mom and the kids went running, too. Addyson was bawling because we scared her so much. I missed half of the awesome grand finale (what I saw of it was REALLY good) and the boys (Michael, Nick, Dad, Chance) laughed and shook their heads at us the rest of the night.

Fun times!

Sounds like a great day. I loved the pictures. That Izzy is a doll. How fun that you got to talk to Jenna. She is sweet. Pretty awesome about your friend Jackie and her son. But you know Izzy IS completely healed. You just haven't seen the complete manifestation yet. ;)

I don't think you need to get out more - In my five years - I have never done a theme wedding - I looked at a girl like she was nuts when she mentioned a mad hatter shower...hahahaha- Your camera takes good pictures! Mine are all grainy...IF your neighbors got 120,000 worth of fireworks they had some money to burn (literally) but at least you got a good show!

The music on your blog is so beautiful, Annie, I could just sit here all day and listen to it.

OK, I'm sorry, but that sounds like a strange wedding to me. I can't imagine wearing those particular costumes but then I wouldn't get married on the 4th of July either. Guess I'm old fashioned.

I love the phone photos, especially the first one. :-)

Hi Annie

I guess you didn't get my email back the other night? Grrr - it's so erratic. I got so excited when i got yours.

I'm glad you had a nice day with your family. Emelia's stubbornness made me laugh. I love the pic of the two of you - you have the same nose! - but more than that, I really love Judi's comment. Amen, sister!

I'm with Barb--that is one strange wedding--who does that?--besides your neighbors, of course. My cousin got married around July 4th back in 1976--and her wedding was red, white, and blue--but we had no lady liberty or uncle sam. You have been blessed with wonderful friends--I'm glad you have someone like Jackie in your life. Your phone pictures are great--I really need to get a new up-to-date phone. I fully expected B. to get out our 4-wheeler yesterday, but he never did. I don't think his knee is up for it yet. Ok--enough comment hogging-I'll talk to you later.

I'm w/Barb - I couldn't imagine dressing up in those costumes for my wedding, but hey, it was their wedding and I'm sure they gave their guests something to remember!

How neat that you got to talk to Jenna!

Hi Annie!
Your 4th of July sounds like it was nice. Great pics and YUM to the spinach dip!! What do you serve with your spinach dip?

I am not to sure about the themed/costumed wedding. But to each their own I suppose!

Take care.

Blessings..

Sounds like a wonderful day. Our fireworks got rained out. It was a bummer since my neighbor & I always watch them together on her front porch. I was hoping to use that time to meet her new beau.

Sounds like a good day! We had lots of fireworks here, too ... plus, all the neighbors were shooting them off. The sky was full of color all night long. It was so neat to see!

Wow! How fun to read about the crazy wedding! I love Americana and patriotism as much as anyone, but nothing beats a lovely, traditional white wedding gown, especially handmade by a loving mom (like yours)! I will be making my daughter's wedding gown for her, too...some day! :)

I am in love with spinach dip. Do you make it heated or cold? I like both :)

Ok, I can't believe the bride and groom wore those outfits! They will look back on it and be so embarrassed...unless they are eccentric beyond all reason haha.
